Tonight at 7:30 p.m. ET, the St. Louis Blues (32-10-5, 69 points) and Detroit Red Wings (21-17-10, 52 points) skate against each other for the first of two meetings this season live from the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit. The game can be live streamed here. St. Louis fans can hear all of the action on KMOX 1120 while Detroit fans can do the same on 97.1 The Ticket.
St. Louis enters play on the heels of three regulation losses in a row while Detroit will look to turnaround the way they play at home, where they are 7-10-7.
Following a 3-2 loss to the Anaheim Ducks on Saturday where his team failed to score first, coach Ken Hitchcock noted that the team has to start lighting the lamp before their opposition if they hope to win.
"It's really just the same movie, different day," Hitchcock said via NHL.com. "We're going to have to figure out a way to fix it. ... We're going to have to have better starts, we're going to have to have more people engaged, we're going to have to play on our toes. Can't beat good teams playing on your heels."
The Red Wings host a season-long five-game homestand and realize that they've got to play better at the Joe Louis Arena if they want to turn things around.
"Really big homestand, we got some great teams coming in here," goalie Jimmy Howard told the team's website. "It's going to take 60 minutes or more these next four games."
Howard is likely to start and is 9-11-8 with a 2.58 goals-against average and a .917 save percentage while Jaroslav Halak is likely to man the crease for the Blues and is 19-7-3 with a 2.29 GAA and a .917 save percentage.
St. Louis has been led offensively by T.J. Oshie, who has 11 goals and 30 assists for 41 points while Alex Steen has 24 tallies and 14 helpers for 38 points and David Backes has found the back of the net 17 times and added 18 assists for 35 points.
Detroit is without two of its three top scorers as Pavel Datsyuk (15-17-32) is out with a lower-body injury and Daniel Alfredsson (11-19-30) is sidelined with a groin and back injury. Leading scorer Henrik Zetterberg has 38 points off of 15 markers and 23 helpers this season.
The Blues look to bounce back after three tough losses while the Red Wings hope that they can start turning things around at home when these teams faceoff tonight at the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit.
