Five-time NBA champion and injured Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant dropped by Boston College on Thursday night and sat in an international marketing class for two hours, reports TMZ.com. His visit to a school in Boston- the city of his Lakers' arch-rivals Celtics- however was dissed by comedian Sinbad, who called it an insult to schools in LA.

According to TMZ Sports, the superstar guard surprised the students at BC when he walked into their class and sat in for the full-two hour course. Curiously, the professor had no idea that the NBA star was planning on stopping by.

"Kobe stayed for the whole 2 hours and never once did I see him check his phone," Professor Nick Nugent told the website. "He even asked a question in class! It was about cross-border trade."

Prof. Nugent added that after class ended, he found two unread messages in his email from Kobe's assistant saying that the NBA star was interested in attending his class. Although he never gave Bryant official permission, the professor said he was not upset with the star's gesture.

In his Twitter account, Kobe documented his trip to BC by tweeting: "Learn. Learn. Learn. thank you #BC #internationalmarketing Education never stops."

Bryant is in Boston to accompany his Lakers who will play the Celtics on Friday night.

But while the act may have won Bryant a lot of fans in Boston, some of his admirers in LA don't approve of it. Take for instance, comedian Sinbad who told TMZ Sports that it is a huge insult to schools in Los Angeles.

A long-time LA resident, Sinbad said that Kobe could have done the same in UCLA or USC. After all, Kobe has been with the Lakers for 18 years, and thus did not have to fly 3,000 miles just to learn about marketing.
"Is education in L.A. not good enough? Just Boston good enough?," he asked.
