Seahawks, 49ers Rivalry Update: Jim Harbaugh Praises Seahawks for Denying Sale of NFC Championship Tickets to California [VIDEO]

The Seattle Seahawks found a strange sympathizer in their plans to block anyone from California or 42 other states from purchasing tickets for Sunday's NFC Championship Game against the San Francisco 49ers.

That sympathizer would be San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh.

The San Francisco Chronicle reported Monday night that Harbaugh actually lauded the Seahawks ticket restriction.

"I actually respect it - what you're trying to do for your team, put them in the best possible position to win," Harbaugh told the Chronicle. "I respect that their organization does that for their team. I think they do that in a lot of ways."

Sports World News reported Sunday that the Seahawks are limiting ticket sales for the NFC title game between NFC West rivals to credit-card users with addresses only in Oregon, Washington, Montana, Idaho, Hawaii and Alaska, as well as Canadian provinces British Columbia and Alberta.

As of 5 p.m. Pacific Time on Monday, the Chronicle reported that more than 5,000 tickets were available on StubHub, ranging from $393 (it went up to $394 as of 10 p.m. Monday night, Pacific Time) to more than $1,200 each for club-level seats.

The Chronicle added that more than 30 percent of sales for the 49ers-Seahawks game are coming from California, according to StubHub, compared with 28 percent from the state of Washington.

The 49ers and Seahawks are playing for the third time this season. The teams split their regular-season meetings. Seattle thrashed San Francisco 29-3 in Seattle during the second week of the season. The 49ers edged the Seahawks 19-17 in San Francisco in week 14.
