Tonight at 9:00 p.m. ET on ESPN, the No. 2-ranked Syracuse Orange (16-0, 3-0 ACC) will look to continue their rampage through the ACC when they head to Silvio O. Conte Forum to face the Boston College Golden Eagles (5-11, 1-2 ACC). Live stream the game free by clicking this link. BC is facing an uphill battle despite playing tonight at home; Syracuse's zone is wreaking havoc this year on everyone in their path. Their latest victim was Roy Williams' high-octane UNC Tar Heels, who were held to a measly 45 points on Saturday, their lowest point total in seven seasons. The Heels shot just 39.2 percent from the field, and made two of their 12 3-point attempts.
"This was a defensive-effort game," coach Jim Boeheim said. "We got loose balls. We made a lot of really good hustle plays. We got on the floor. That was the difference." That defense has the Orange giving up an average of just 58 points a night to opponents; even scarier, the UNC game marked their first 40-minute effort according to guard Trevor Cooney.
"I think today was one of the first games we really played defense for 40 minutes," Cooney said. "That was good to see, especially against a good team like UNC. And to beat good teams like that you really need to play defense for 40 minutes. I thought we did a great job of that."
The Eagles' record is unimpressive, but Boeheim said it doesn't tell the whole tale. "Boston College has lost a lot of games, but they have lost games by one or two points. You don't know what's going to happen, if you don't bring your game you're going to have a tough time," Boeheim said. "We played a good road game against Virginia Tech, and I hope that happens when we play Boston College."
