Detroit enters the second game of a four-game road trip after winning their opening contest of it while San Jose is fourth in the Western Conference and 15-1-3 at the SAP Center this season. The first time these two teams played the Sharks scratched out a 1-0 shootout win in Detroit on Oct. 21.

The Sharks are coming off of a 3-2 loss to the Nashville Predators on Tuesday and will be hungry to bounce back.

"I didn't think we were good enough," coach Todd McLellan said via NHL.com. "Over the next little bit, our leadership group has to step up, and that starts with us as coaches. That's where the leadership starts. The four of us are going to have to assume a big role and make sure our team is prepared and ready to play."

The Red Wings own the Eastern Conference's best road record with a 13-4-3 mark away from the Joe Louis Arena, but enter a stretch against the Sharks, Los Angeles Kings and Anaheim Ducks-three teams that have six losses between them in regulation at home this season.

"It's a big challenge, but at the same time a good opportunity for us to get things going," defensemen Niklas Kronwall said Wednesday per NHL.com. "We didn't play great in Dallas but took advantage of our opportunities. Goaltending was great for us. We have to build on that."

Henrik Zetterberg is on a four-game point streak and leads the Red Wings with 36 points off of 14 goals and 22 assists while Pavel Datsyuk has 15 tallies and 17 helpers for 32 points and Daniel Alfredsson has lit the lamp 11 times and added 19 assists for 30 points.

Joe Thornton leads the Sharks with 48 points off of an NHL-best 43 assists and five goals while Patrick Marleau has 20 markers and 22 helpers for 42 points and Joe Pavelski is 3-1-4 in his past four games and has found the twine 19 times and added 22 assists for 41 points.

In between the pipes, Detroit will likely go with Jimmy Howard, who is 7-9-8 with a 2.65 goals-against average and a .911 save percentage while San Jose will likely turn to Antti Niemi to man the crease, and he is 22-9-6 with a 2.46 GAA and a .911 save percentage this season.

The Red Wings look to continue their road dominance while the Sharks will look to bounce back from a rare home loss when the puck drops at the SAP Center tonight in San Jose.
