Boston police are seeking to tie Aaron Hernandez to a 2012, drive-by double-slaying in Boston largely based on video surveillance that puts him in a nightclub with the victims and later in the vicinity of the crime.

According to the Hartford Courant, police are also basing their case against the former New England Patriots tight end on accounts given to them by several informants that reveal a connection between him and the victims.

Documents released Tuesday and obtained by The Courant also reveal additional evidence that includes a Toyota 4Runner given to Hernandez by a rental company that investigators now believe may be the vehicle used in the killings. The car was later discovered in a garage in Bristol, Conn., at the home of one of Hernandez's cousins.

In August, Massachusetts State Police also recovered a gun they say was used in the double homicide, according to multiple reports. The gun was found in the car of Jailene Diaz-Ramos, 19, after she was involved in an accident June 21 on Interstate 91 in Springfield, Mass., reports say. It's uncertain what connection Diaz-Ramos, who is from Hernandez's hometown of Bristol, has to Hernandez.

Hernandez remains jailed without bail on first-degree murder charges in the killing of former one-time associate Odin Lloyd. Police have speculated Hernandez may have killed Lloyd because he had knowledge of other crimes he's alleged to have been involved in.
