Tonight at 7:30 p.m. ET, the Florida Panthers (16-20-6, 38 points) and the Montreal Canadiens (24-14-5, 53 points) skate against each other live from the Bell Centre in Montreal for the third of four meetings against each other this season. The game can be live streamed here. Florida fans can hear all of the action on WQAM 560 while Montreal fans can do the same on TSN 690.
Florida enters play with a 7-2-0 record over its past nine games against the Canadiens while Montreal has lost three of its last four games heading into tonight. The Panthers have won both games against the Canadiens this season, with a 2-1 win in Montreal on Dec. 15 and a 4-1 win in Florida on Dec. 29.
The Canadiens lost 4-3 to the Ottawa Senators on Saturday and held an open practice to their fans on Sunday. George Parros was in attendance but had no update on his recovery from his concussion.
"I've done some light contact and that's the next step along the way," said Parros, according to NHL.com. "I'm taking it day-by-day and we're getting towards the end but I don't have any particular day in mind."
The Panthers are coming off of a 5-4 shootout win over the Nashville Predators on Saturday that saw coach Pete Horachek beat his old team.
"We just take the points and move forward," said Horachek via NHL.com. "It feels good to beat [the Predators]. I wish them all the best after tonight."
The Panthers have been led by 18-year-old rookie Aleksander Barkov, who has 21 points off of seven goals and 14 assists and is on a five-game point streak while Tomas Fleischmann has found the back of the net five times and added 15 assists for 20 points and Brad Boyes leads the team with 11 markers while adding eight assists for 19 points.
P.K. Subban has six points over his last three games and paces the Canadiens with 33 points off of seven goals and 26 assists while Tomas Plekanec has lit the lamp 13 times and added 13 helpers for 26 points and Max Pacioretty has found the twine 19 times and added six assists for 25 points.
In between the pipes, Cam Ward will likely start for Montreal and is 19-11-4 with a 2.26 goals-against average and a .927 save percentage while Tim Thomas is the probable starter for Florida and is 10-10-2 with a 2.71 GAA and a .911 save percentage.
The Panthers look to continue their dominance over their opponents while the Canadiens try to change recent history and start winning against Florida when the lights come up at Bell Centre tonight in Montreal.
