Dallas enters play at the start of a three-game road trip and has lost two straight games while New York has lost nine out of its last 10 home games and had a three-game winning streak snapped its last time out.

The Stars are coming off of a 5-1 loss at the hands of the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday.

"I think our defense kind of hit the wall the past couple of games," Stars coach Lindy Ruff said after the game, according to NHL.com. "We need to get the D healthy and it looks like we're a step away from getting them healthy and then get back to playing good, consistent hockey. It's been a good first half, but a disappointing past couple of games."

The Islanders fell 3-2 to the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday and will look to bounce back.

"It seemed like we came out with a lot of energy and we seemed to obviously tail off towards the end even though we had some chances in the third," captain John Tavares said per NHL.com. "We just had some bad breakdowns and gave them the lead and they did a good job of not really giving us a whole lot."

Tavares has four goals and seven points in four games, and leads the Islanders with 46 points off of 17 goals and 29 assists while Kyle Okposo has 16 tallies and 26 helpers for 42 points and Thomas Vanek has lit the lamp 15 times and added 19 assists for 34 points. Vanek is currently enjoying an eight-game point streak.

Tyler Seguin has six points in six games for the Stars and leads the team with 41 points off of 21 goals and 20 assists while Jamie Benn has 14 markers and 22 helpers for 36 points and Valeri Nichushkin and Alex Chiasson have each found the back of the net eight times and added 13 assists for 20 points.

In net, Dallas will likely turn to Kari Lehtonen, who is 16-9-7 with a 2.55 goals-against average and a .917 save percentage while Evgeni Nabokov is the probable starter for New York and is 9-8-5 with a 2.86 GAA and a .905 save percentage.

The Stars look to open their road trip on a positive note while the Islanders try to close out their homestand with a win when the puck drops tonight at the Nassau Coliseum in New York.
