With the Royal Rumble just around the corner, the WWE is boosting its roster with the hope of increasing fan interest in the pay-per-view event considered as the curtain-raiser to the company's much-anticipated Wrestlemania extravaganza.

And with the Royal Rumble just weeks away, the WWE is expecting the return of some established superstars such as the exciting Rob Van Dam.

According to PWInsider.com, there is a likelihood that Van Dam will return to the WWE via the Royal Rumble which will happen on January 26 from the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

The website is reporting that Van Dam has been announced as wrestling for Booker T's Reality of Wrestling promotion in Houston, Texas on January 11 at the at the Clear Lake Sports and Recreation Center. Van Dam will also be doing a VIP meet and greet at the event.

"As we noted several months back, the plan for Van Dam's return to WWE after taking a hiatus was for him to return for Wrestlemania season at the Royal Rumble. At the time, WWE wanted to lock him in through Extreme Rules in April, which would have been longer than the 90 day window RVD had agreed to for his return to the company," the website writes. "So, the booking for Booker T's group could be a warm-up for his WWE return."

Van Dam is a former WWE Champion aside from holding the European, Intercontinental, Hardcore and Tag Team Championships. He was last seen in the WWE on October after losing to Alberto Del Rio at WWE Battleground.
