Mixed Martial Arts great Anderson Silva may have suffered a career-threatening injury at UFC 168, but boxing legend Roy Jones, Jr. insists there is still a chance that he and Silva would eventually face each other in a boxing match in the future.

"I don't think it's dead," Jones told ESPN UK regarding the proposed fight. "He can come back after that kind of injury, but if he does, is he going to want to still kick [in MMA]? I wouldn't want to kick anymore after that. So he should come to boxing. Ain't no kicking in boxing, and he won't re-injure the leg. Get better, come to boxing and take one big-time event with Roy Jones. If he won, which I don't think he would, he could continue on. If he lost, which I think he would, he could call it a day. But at least he would have gotten the big fight."

Jones remained optimistic about the showdown, saying: "It would be legend versus legend. It's still a big fight and something people would want to see. People love big names. People get excited about big names, and people would still be excited to see me and Silva."

Jones visited Silva in the hospital after the UFC great's surgery, and shared with him words of encouragement. As reported by MMAMania.com, Jones told Silva: "Never upset because you have to understand that God does all things for a reason." He also said to Silva:, 'Anytime you kick so hard and so fast that you break your leg on another guy's shin, that's pretty fast, pretty hard and focused.' Your force is what actually broke your own leg, you understand me?
