Tonight at 8:00 p.m. ET the sinking Brooklyn Nets (10-21) will take on the Oklahoma City Thunder (26-5), a Western Conference heavyweight, in Chesapeake Arena in NBA action that can be live streamed here. Nets fans can catch the radio broadcast on 101.9 WFAN FM, while Thunder fans can hear the action on WWLS 98.1.
Oklahoma City has dropped two of its last three home games in "Loud City," and is hoping to rectify that when they face the hapless Nets. Brooklyn had title aspirations entering the season, but now are just trying to lose games with some dignity.
"I don't think I've been a part of this many blowouts in one season, already," swingman Paul Pierce said. "At some point we've got to have our pride come from each individual and say we've had enough of this. It's extremely embarrassing."
They might be hard-pressed to avoid another thrashing tonight, even if Oklahoma City is without point guard Russell Westbrook. Kevin Durant is playing some of the best basketball of his career, averaging 33.3 points, 11.5 rebounds and shooting 54 percent from the field.
Despite that, Durant's kicking himself over a missed jumper Tuesday from 11 feet out that could've sent the game into overtime. "My teammates told me if I was contested that I probably would have made the shot," Durant said immediately after the loss. "I'm sure that's going to replay in my mind for the rest of the night. I wish I could have hit that for my team."
Part of the reason OKC is 2-1 in Westbrook's absence has been the elevation of backup guard Reggie Jackson's play. In those three contests Jackson has averaged 12.6 points, 5.6 assists and 5.3 rebounds. While those numbers pale in comparison to what Westbrook does nightly, he contributes in each category, while Durant picks his own efforts up a notch.
