Reports have circulated in recent weeks that the WWE was planning on having John Cena face Bray Wyatt and Batista face Randy Orton on April 6 at WrestleMania XXX at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, but it appears as though the creative team within the WWE has changed the plans.
It was reported that Cena and Wyatt would close the show at WrestleMania, but Wrestlingheadlines.com reports that it is no longer the case as the WWE is no longer going forward with the plans for that match.
According to the new report, a Cena and Wyatt match was not something that was discussed recently by the WWE. The idea was originally tossed around a month ago, with plans for Wyatt winning the Royal Rumble match and Cena to defeat Orton at the Royal Rumble for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and face Wyatt at WrestleMania XXX, but the plans have changed.
According to Wrestlinghealdines.com, the storyline involving Cena and Wyatt was mapped out before the WWE decided to unify the belts at TLC: Tables, Ladders and Chairs, and now that the WWE has unified the WWE and World Heavyweight Championships, the plan has been nixed.
The report indicates that the WWE is planning on having Batista win the 30-man over-the-top Royal Rumble match at the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh on Jan. 26 and he will face whoever wins the Orton vs. Cena match at Royal Rumble which could reportedly go either way meaning that Batista will face Orton or Cena at WrestleMania XXX and those plans aren't set in stone.
It was reported that Cena may team up with Hulk Hogan at the big event, but due to Hogan's age and declining health, "The Hulkster" may not be able to have a match at WrestleMania due to his likely inability to pass the proper medical tests needed to compete.
The WWE has big plans for Cena at the event, which likely means that he will go over Orton and defend the title against Batista at WrestleMania.
