Lindsey Vonn's return to World Cup competition is uncertain and the downhill Olympic gold medal winner may not perform again before the Sochi Olympics in February, according to ESPN.

After reinjuring her already surgically repaired right knee in France, Tiger Woods girlfriend flew back to Vail, Colo., last week after experiencing extensive swelling.

"Her knee was swollen again after Val d'Isere," U.S. women's head coach Alex Hoedlmoser told ESPN. "She is working with the guys from her own team, Red Bull and the medical staff to get that under control."

Vonn underwent surgery in February to reconstruct two knee ligaments after a crash in super-G at the world championships, and then partially re-tore one of them in November. She placed 40th in her first race since the most recent injury in Alberta earlier this month.

"I'm going to play it safe and race minimal races, so I can get the confidence and the timing and the feeling of racing again," Vonn recently told ESPN. "I'm really going to be safe and smart as I can."

Vonn and Woods began publicly dating more than a year ago and he was even seen walking the slopes with her while she was in France.
