It has been rumored that the WWE's storyline with the Triple H-led Authority will come to a head at WrestleMania XXX in New Orleans on April 6, and while it was always rumored that CM Punk would be the one to face Triple H at the biggest event of the year, rumors have surfaced that Roman Reigns may be the backup plan to take on "The Game" at WrestleMania.

It was reported earlier this month that the WWE is planning on a Punk and Triple H showdown at WrestleMania which has been built up through Punk's animosity towards the WWE's COO for the last few months. It was furthered on a recent episode of Monday Night RAW when Punk called out Triple H directly but was given "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels instead.

It was said that Michaels' involvement was a way to further hold off a Triple H and Punk face-to-face encounter to when the WrestleMania buildup is in full force, but now Reigns may get the nod if WWE decides to do something else with Punk for the big event. Reigns is a part of The Shield, but a babyface turn has been hinted at for months and the WWE is expected to pull the trigger on it soon.

Reigns was featured prominently at the WWE's Survivor Series pay-per-view in November where he stood tall as the sole survivor of his team's traditional five-on-five Survivor Series elimination tag match, and eliminated four of the five members of the opposing team while looking dominant with his spear finisher.

The WWE further hinted at The Shield's dissention at TLC: Tables, Ladders and Chairs when Reigns accidentally speared Dean Ambrose and cost his team a match against Punk. Reigns, 28, is expected to get a monstrous babyface push soon and is considered the "back-up plan" in case Punk doesn't face Triple H at the show.

Punk has expressed displeasure about never main eventing a WrestleMania for the WWE Championship, including last year when he faced the Undertaker at WrestleMania XXIX while a returning Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson defended the WWE Title against John Cena.

"I don't really mince words, I'm not gonna tell you I'm excited for Cena and Rock II because I'm not," Punk told reporters during WrestleMania XXIX weekend last year. "I'd be more excited if it was me and John [Cena]."

Punk may be out of the main event and WWE Championship picture again with rumors of Cena and Bray Wyatt closing the show and Randy Orton and Batista squaring off for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

It remains to be seen if Punk or Reigns will face Triple H at WrestleMania, but Reigns is expected to get a huge push in 2014.
