Facing the No. 1 Cleveland Cavaliers was more than a struggle for the visiting Los Angeles Clippers, but Ben Simmons proved that he was regaining his old All-Star self.

Although the Clippers came up short, 127-122, many fans think that Simmons can contribute to the team and come back stronger.

Is Ben Simmons' Performance Last Night a Flop or a Success?

According to Sports Illustrated, Ben Simmons played 20 minutes on the court, chipping in with four points, six rebounds, five assists, and a steal. He shot an effective 2-for-3 from the field, with moments of his previous self being witnessed. Although Simmons' box score wasn't flashy, his presence was felt, particularly when matched up with Ivica Zubac.

Encouraging Responses on Social Media

Fans and analysts took to social media to praise Simmons' performance. Many highlighted his improved confidence and growing chemistry with Zubac.

According to one X user, the Clippers were +12 when the duo of Simmons and Zubac was present. What's surprising here is that they managed to pull off a positive performance without James Harden on the court.

"Are we going to see a confident Ben Simmons at the right time? ????" another fan wrote.

Some fans also lauded the Australian player's aggression on both ends of the floor. Although the team is underperforming, Simmons is here to step up and pass the ball to every scorer he sees within his peripheral.

"I'm glad Ben Simmons playing good basketball," one X fan praised his skills.

"Why are we guarding Ben Simmons like it's 2020?" another NBA fan posted on his X feed.

The comments are the opposite of what he received after the Clippers' loss to the Knicks. Many players criticized his performance for being extremely lackluster. One fan even mocked him by saying that it's his first time seeing Simmons play in the last six years.

Clippers Struggling to Find Consistency

With this defeat, the Clippers are now 42-32 after 74 games and are the eighth seed in the Western Conference. Their away record remains a worry, with them having won 17 out of 21 away from the Intuit Dome.

Simmons did not play against Orlando Magic, according to RotoWire. But the Clippers staged a miraculous win, 96-87, thanks to Kawhi Leonard and Norman Powell, who posted 21 points apiece.

For those who don't know Simmons, he used to be an All-Star for the Brooklyn Nets and Philadelphia 76ers. Although he was listed as 6-foot-10, he did not play any "big man" role. Instead, he plays the point guard position due to his incredible passing and playmaking abilities.

Ben Simmons was selected with the first overall pick in the 2016 NBA draft by the Philadelphia 76ers.
