The Golden State Warriors soared on their seven-game win streak before bowing to the Denver Nuggets recently. Winning 15 of their previous 16 games could mean that the team wants to push harder for a playoff slot.

Even though Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler are the main scorers of the team, the Dubs still need some help. With that in mind, the Warriors could get Michael Porter Jr., but that also means losing some valuable assets.

Warriors Are Looking for the Nuggets Forward

Reports indicate that the Warriors are willing to make three-time NBA champion Kevon Looney available in a trade to acquire Michael Porter Jr. for Golden State.

Porter Jr., a 6-foot-10 forward, has been a steady performer for Denver this season. He is averaging 18.3 points, seven rebounds, and 2.5 three-pointers per game. His shooting efficiency, too, is impressive, with a 50.4% field goal percentage and a 40% success rate from outside the arc.

Although he never became the superstar level of Nikola Jokic and other superstars, Porter Jr. has been a solid third-scoring threat for the Nuggets.

According to Matthew Legros of Empire Sports Media, the Warriors should make a push for him if the Nuggets float his name on the trade block in the summer.

Possible Trade Package in the Works

In order to trade for Porter Jr., the Warriors are considering offering a package featuring Buddy Hield, Moses Moody, Kevon Looney, and a first-round pick down the line. In exchange, the Nuggets would offer Porter Jr. and veteran center DeAndre Jordan to the Golden State Warriors.

This possible trade would give the Warriors an additional scoring threat who can stretch the floor and make meaningful contributions in clutch situations. Porter Jr.'s ability to score from any location on the court would pair with Curry's world-class shooting and create a deeper Golden State offense that is already explosive.

Porter Jr.'s Contract Presents a Challenge

Although Porter Jr.'s ability would be a welcome asset, his high-paid contract makes any trade difficult. Porter will average more than $38 million over the next two years, which might be too expensive for Golden State. That being said, the Warriors can potentially carry that expense because they want another deadly shooter on their roster.

That's the same dilemma that Lakers are facing with Porter Jr. plus the Nuggets are hesitant to trade their prized forward for Austin Reaves.

Porter Jr. Could Be the New Splash Brother

Porter Jr.'s three-point shooting gives him a commodity that is so valuable to a perimeter-shooting team. Having Curry as a lead, introducing another consistent threat from three points would make the Warriors even more dangerous from afar.

Additionally, Porter Jr.'s size and versatility enable him to play defense, providing the Warriors with a balanced forward who can guard multiple positions. His rebounding skills would also be an asset, enabling Golden State to control both ends of the court.

Will the Warriors Pull the Trigger?

If the Warriors can create an offer that satisfies Denver, they may be able to land a building block on their way toward a second straight NBA championship.
