Myles Garrett is a defensive specialist that even Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Homes recognized as an unstoppable force. Right now, the Cleveland Browns are having a hard time convincing Garrett to stay.
However, tight end David Njoku is not giving up on keeping his teammate in Cleveland. In a passionate plea, Njoku insists the Browns are closer to contention than Garrett believes, urging him to stay and give it another shot.
David Njoku's Emotional Plea to Garrett
Speaking during his appearance at Radio Row, Njoku did not hold back in trying to convince Garrett to stay. While he didn't directly name-drop the 2023 Defensive Player of the Year, it was clear who he was talking about.
"Come on, dog," Njoku said. "Stay home, bro. Give it another shot. We ain't that far off, honestly speaking."

Njoku said that Garrett is his "brother," but more importantly, he has shared every high and low with him. He strongly feels that they have not reached the end of their journey yet and still have a real chance at winning big in Cleveland.
Njoku added that deep in his heart, he knows that Garrett is desperate to win the Super Bowl.

Garrett's Frustration About the Browns' Future
Garrett's trade request is reportedly based on his concerns over the trajectory of the Browns.
In a statement he released to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Garrett said that his "desire to win and compete on the biggest stages won't allow me to be complacent." He wants to become a Super Bowl champion, and apparently, he does not think Cleveland is the best way to get there.
Are the Browns Close to Contentions?
According to TMZ Sports, Njoku is in absolute disagreement with such claims by the coach, stating the Browns are way closer to championship contention than people think. According to him, the team just needs a particular key piece to get everything moving in the right direction.
"We already got this far—we didn't come this far just to come this far," said Njoku in a hint that a healthy, consistent quarterback could be the missing link for Cleveland's success.
Myle's potential exit could also be the reason why Denzel Ward called for consistency at quarterback. The Browns' cornerback said that this could be the key to reaching the team's playoff potential.
Browns Refuse to Entertain Trade Offers
Despite seeming frustrations from Garrett, the Browns stand firm. A team official told the Associated Press' Tom Withers that Cleveland "isn't entertaining trade offers for Myles."
This is similar to what was recently said by the Browns general manager Andrew Berry. Just days ago, Berry said the team has no plan to trade Garrett, who is signed through 2026.
The Fate of Browns Will Depend on Garrett's Decision For Now
The Browns are publicizing that they're dismissing the talk of trade, but things remain fluid. If Garrett continues to be unyielding in his request, he may put the franchise in a tight spot. Losing such an elite player is a significant blow, but holding onto a disgruntled star can also cause tension in the locker room.
For now, Njoku and the Browns are hoping Garrett has a change of heart. The tight end's appeal shows how much the team values him—not just as a player but as a leader. The coming weeks will determine whether the Browns can mend fences or if one of the NFL's top defensive stars will be wearing a new jersey next season.
