Quinn Ewers, the quarterback for the Texas Longhorns, has announced his decision to enter the 2025 NFL Draft after three years with the team.
While this is a part of his dream to pursue professional football, this could also impact Arch Manning's career.
Ewers Ends College Career
Quinn Ewers, a highly touted quarterback, has opted out of his remaining college eligibility and will pursue a professional football career. According to Yahoo! Sports, he transferred from Ohio State and became the starter for the Texas Longhorns, where he spent three seasons as the team's leader.
His decision to enter the 2025 NFL Draft comes after a tough loss to Ohio State in the College Football Playoff semifinals, where he passed for 283 yards with two touchdowns but also threw an interception and lost a crucial fumble.

Performance in the 2024 Season
Ewers had a good 2024 season, with 2,472 passing yards and 31 touchdowns against 12 interceptions. Though his completion percentage and interception rate were a little worse than the previous year, he did throw nine more touchdown passes in two more games than he did in 2023. Even though he missed two games with an oblique injury, Ewers played in most of Texas' games and was a key part of their offense.
Ewer's History of Injuries
Ewers has suffered multiple injuries throughout his college career. He missed games in each of his three seasons with shoulder and oblique issues. These injury concerns, combined with the arrival of a high-rated freshman like Arch Manning, likely contributed to his early departure from college football.
The nephew of the NFL's Manning brothers, Eli and Peyton, is seen as a future icon in Texas football and will more than likely assume quarterbacking duties next season.
$6 Million Report: Ewers's NFL Dream Ends
Before he announced his intention to enter the draft, there was a viral report that said an unnamed school offered Ewers $6 million to continue his college career. There was no confirmation of this report, and Ewers' decision to enter the NFL Draft makes one wonder if the report was accurate.
Can Ewers Make a Cut For the Prestigious First Round of the NFL Draft
While Ewers might not be seen as a guaranteed early-round pick, he can become an early-round selection with outstanding pre-draft workouts in the 2025 NFL Draft class.
The 2025 class is weaker at the quarterback position than in previous years. Cam Ward of Miami and Shedeur Sanders from Colorado are among the best quarterback prospects for 2025. However, his skills and ability could make him an attractive target for teams in need of more depth at quarterback.
The next step for Quinn Ewers is undoubtedly the most exciting stage of his footballing career so far. Although there have been periods of fluctuation in college, Quinn has more than enough skills to bring into the NFL to make an impact on the level positively.
