Michae Lewis entered the Indiana courtroom and immediately declared, "I'm guilty as charged," before proceedings even began.

A Startling Courtroom Outburst

Just days after Lewis, 55, was arrested in Indianapolis, an unusual scene took place. According to The Guardian, the authorities claim that he sent a series of harassing and disturbing messages to Clark on microblogging site X (formerly Twitter) throughout December and January. This led to a felony stalking charge.

During the hearing, the judge explained Lewis's rights and reminded him that he had a right to remain silent. Nonetheless, Lewis's disorganized behavior continued, with him asking the judge to "throw me the book " and complaining about his medication.

Despite the earlier outburst, Lewis was allocated a public defender and an official plea of "not guilty" was entered on his behalf.

What Legal Consequences Lewis is Facing

The stalking charge against Lewis is a felony that carries up to six years in prison if convicted. The court ordered Lewis to stay away from Caitlin Clark as part of its protective measures. Lewis signed an order to stay away from Caitlin Clark.

He was also given a bail of $50,000. As Lewis is in jail, the court has strictly advised him not to talk to anyone except his attorney.

Lewis has been charged with sending threatening messages to the top collegiate basketball player, Clark, in dozens of messages for the past two months.
