The NBA has sanctioned Minnesota Timberwolves All-Star guard Anthony Edwards with a $25,000 fine for using profane language during postgame interviews.

The young star was known for having a loud mouth during the NBA's intense moments. As savvy as he is, Edwards has sometimes no control over his words. He finished with 30 points, nine assists, and four rebounds in Minnesota's win over Golden State Warriors last Dec. 6.

Edwards Shout-out to Team Defense with F-bombs

When questioned about the defense of the Timberwolves, Edwards was full of praise for his team's efforts, CBS Sports observes. "Everybody's playing at a high level defensively, but Jaden [McDaniels] and Rudy [Gobert] are being anchors like we need them to be," he said.

But excitement used to get the best of him as he used the F word when referring to Naz [Reid] and Julius [Randle], who are f---ing playing defense. I've never seen them play defense before. So that's f---ing incredible. And he's right here, put the camera on him. Guarding his ass off.

Although Edwards wanted to compliment his teammates, the NBA has strict policies about profanity in media access, which earned him the fine.

Regular Problems: Edwards' Second Fine in a Month

According to TMZ Sports, this isn't the first time Edwards has faced disciplinary action from the league. In November, he was fined $35,000 for an obscene gesture during a game against the Sacramento Kings. Edwards had been called for an offensive foul after colliding with Jordan McLaughlin while attempting to pass out of a defensive trap.

Frustrated by the call, Edwards flipped off the referees, earning the hefty penalty.

The latest fine given to Edwards marks a history of other disciplinary actions. After the 2022-23 NBA playoffs in which Edwards was sent home due to elimination by the Denver Nuggets, he was fined $50,000 for swinging a chair that accidentally hit two bystanders. He had also been previously fined for making disparaging remarks about the officiating decisions.

Stand of the NBA on Professional Conduct

It reflects the league's continued zeal in keeping professionalism on as well as off the court. Even though Edwards' passion and energy have been crucial to the Timberwolves' recent success, the recurring fines remind him that standards of conduct must also be upheld by NBA members. There's no favoritism whatsoever.

Progressing End

For Edwards, who will be an important player in Minnesota, emotion control and choice of words at public appearances will also be crucial. Fans and teammates keep applauding him for his show on the court, and avoiding future controversies may ensure that the psyche remains concentrated on making the Minnesota Timberwolves successful again.

Last month, LaMelo Ball apologized after the NBA fined him $100,000 for his derogatory remark. After that, the Charlotte Hornets star said that he did not mean to offend anyone.
