Los Angeles Dodgers won the World Series for the second time in a decade, taking its eighth title in franchise history after an electrifying comeback in Game 5 over the New York Yankees.
A five-run deficit early left the Dodgers trailing and they battled back to capture a 7-6 decision and close out the series.
Early Yankees Dominance Fades Amid Costly Errors
The Yankees were in command in this game. Aaron Judge and Jazz Chisholm hit back-to-back home runs in the first inning. New York had a 5-0 cushion by the fourth, but defensive mishaps unraveled that momentum, according to CNN.
It would only go wrong in the fifth, but a routine line drive off of Judge's glove and a misread short throw by center fielder from Chisholm was what lost this game.
A pitch-out miss by Gerrit Cole probably ended the inning for the Dodgers. LA gets that one last shot still a run behind with it. Freeman and Teoscar Hernandez took it each hitting two home runs tying it to 5-all.

Dodgers Rally Again, Betts Delivers Game-Winning Sac Fly
For the seventh Dodger rally, this time to cap off a great victory over the Yankees with support again from Mookie Betts. Yesterday, he was disrupted by a fan who attempted to snatch the ball from his glove. Now, he proved that it's just a "small" thing that deserves to be shrugged off.
Though New York briefly regained the lead in the sixth, another defensive lapse in the eighth would prove costly. With the bases loaded and no outs, Dodgers' Gavin Lux tied the game with a sacrifice fly.
Moments later, a catcher's interference call against Shohei Ohtani reloaded the bases, setting the stage for Mookie Betts, who delivered a go-ahead sacrifice fly to put the Dodgers up 7-6.
Dodgers' Clutch Defense Seals World Series Title
The Yankees threatened in the bottom of the inning, loading first and second with one out. Giancarlo Stanton popped out, and Anthony Rizzo struck out at the end of the inning on the strong pitching from the Dodgers' closer Blake Treinen, who went 2.1 scoreless innings.
Walker Buehler finished off the game for Los Angeles, retiring Anthony Volpe, Austin Wells, and Alex Verdugo in order to win the game.
Championship Decade for the Los Angeles Dodgers Legends
The Game 5 win in this series marks a career-defining moment for those Los Angeles Dodgers players. Shohei Ohtani is toasting his first championship of his career after his initial postseason appearance; Mookie Betts is at three World Series championship wins.
For one in Clayton Kershaw's class, though, the end brings on their second ring after fighting part of the season playing catchup because of injury.
The Dodgers win is also historic since it is their first full-season title since 1988. Speaking on the backlash of the team's win during the 2020 pandemic-shortened season, Blake Treinen said, "It's so great to see the guys from that 2020 team finally silence the critics."
The Dodgers will return to Los Angeles as undisputed champions, ready for a well-deserved parade to celebrate their unforgettable season.
