Robert Kraft Speaks Out: Jabrill Peppers' Patriots Career in Jeopardy Amid Domestic Violence Allegations

Patriots owner Robert Kraft made it as plain as day—if complaints of domestic violence against safety Jabrill Peppers play out, his time in New England will be over.

Kraft spoke in strong terms during his recent appearance on "The Breakfast Club," a few days after Peppers' arrest on Oct.5 resulted in his being placed on the Commissioner's Exempt list.

Peppers signed a three-year contract worth $30 million with the New England Patriots at the end of June. Just this July, he was indicted for four charges including domestic violence and cocaine possession; all these cases are related to incidents involving his girlfriend, which he continues to deny, indicating that it is all a play in the way things were presented, according to TMZ.

According to Peppers, the incident happened when he refused to have unprotected sex with his girlfriend, who had alleged that she had been drunk and became erratic. He further claims that she also made the story as a way of causing damage to his career.

"[The NFL will] do their independent checking. We're doing ours. "If what was reported is true, he's gone," Kraft said.

"The easiest thing would have been to cut him right away but we're trying to measure nine times and do right by him. If the facts are as been reported publicly, then he's not with us," the 83-year-old businessman added.

Kraft Advises: Be Reasonable and Fair

With the seriousness of the charge, Kraft said due process should not be compromised in the rush to verdict. "I don't think anyone should be concerned about how bad this will look until these things are proven, and the worst time to make judgments maybe when you don't have all your facts straight, like in the way things always get reported," he said.

"There's a possibility that there's a different explanation," Kraft said, referring to Peppers' side of the story. "I'm going to wait and see, knowing how these situations can sometimes be unfair."

There is a deliberate reaction from Kraft in light of the accusation, as these accusations unleash a snowball effect that erodes the player's career, as well as the reputation of the team and sometimes even that of the league, per AOL.

The Future of Jabrill Peppers in New England

No one, however, should be left confused about the consequences when Peppers is proven guilty. The owner of the Patriots stated that if the allegations made against Peppers on accounts of domestic violence are proven to be true, then the career with the Patriots would be over him the moment he is pronounced guilty.

The proceedings of the case of Peppers will spill into November since he will re-appear in court. Until then, football fans can read how that will be played out and just how important this move may now prove to be to his Patriots future.
