Nick Kyrgios could have a different role in tennis after hinting that he wants to be a coach.
The seven-time ATP Tour singles champion has returned to competition in August after almost two years of recovering from an injury. While he failed to make it to the finals of the Ultimate Tennis Showdown New York, the superstar looks ready for a full return to the sport, but it may be for a position other than an athlete.
The Australian tennis star offered to mentor Coco Gauff after the 20-year-old star disappointingly lost in the fourth round of the 2024 US Open to Emma Navarro, 6-3, 4-6, 6-3. She committed 60 unforced errors and 19 double faults in the loss.
Gauff, who also lost to Navarro in Wimbledon, failed to enter the US Open quarterfinals.
"I'd coach her," Kyrgios said in response to a fan who suggested he'd be an "incredible coach" for Gauff.
The suggestion came after a tennis blogger with 24,000 followers on X, formerly Twitter, suggested the 20-year-old star "sack" her coach, Brad Gilbert.
I’d coach her.

Gilbert has been criticized over Gauff's subpar performance in her recent tournaments.
Serena Williams' former coach, Rennae Stubs, even pointed out Gauff's "bad technique" in front of Gilbert while the two were on ESPN.

Fans React to Nick Kyrgios' Offer
Kyrgios may have never been a coach, but his impressive tennis achievements made some fans think he'd be a great mentor to the young athlete.
"Great idea Nick! I truly hope she takes [you] up on the offer cause she REALLY needs help," one fan wrote on X.
"You'd be an incredible coach!" another one added.
Another fan commented, "Bro, please do. Make the move. We will love to see you coach her."
The 29-year-old star, who is known for his powerful serve, has seven ATP singles titles and one doubles title. He reached the 2022 Wimbledon finals, before losing to Novak Djokovic.
He won the 2022 Australian Open men's doubles with Thanasi Kokkinakis and had a career-high ATP singles ranking of No. 13.
