During the women's gold medal match for beach volleyball in the 2024 Paris Olympics, a disagreement that started between two Brazilian and Canadian players was put under control with a DJ playing John Lennon's popular track "Imagine" at Eiffel Tower Stadium. This led to a transformation of an already tense situation into a scene full of emotions.

This happened in the third set of what had been an intense match between Melissa Humana-Paredes and Brandie Wilkerson from Canada against Ana Patricia Silva Ramos and Duda Lisboa of Brazil. The players ended up in a shouting match at the net, raising tempers. The refs separated both teams but it did not end there as Wilkerson also stared down Ana Patricia.

DJ Intervenes; Peace Follows

As Brazilian served, the DJ started playing "Imagine" by John Lennon. It sent shivers up their spines and made them laugh while clapping. Eventually both sides were smling as the crowd sing together which lightened the mood and brought about unity.

Misunderstandings Cleared After-Match

Wilkerson later explained to reporters that the incident was a misunderstanding. She had been reacting to her family in the crowd, who were seated and cheering behind both Brazilian players. However, Ana Patricia misinterpreted her gestures as taunts.

Notwithstanding that incident earlier on, they still showed respect for each other as they hugged afterwards and took pictures on the podium once Brazil won 15-10.

"We're competitors and we are fighting for the same thing: There's only one gold medal," Wilkerson said, according to DailyMail. "Immediately after the game, it's all love and respect. We bring out the best in each other, and I'm honored to play against this team."
