The Los Angeles Lakers have been involved in several trade talks with multiple teams.
However, one discussion has been particularly productive for the purple and gold franchise, which is with the Washington Wizards, according to Lakers insider Anthony F. Irin of Lakers Daily.
The proposed trade would see the Lakers re-acquire forward Kyle Kuzma, who they traded to Washington back in 2021 as part of the deal to acquire Russell Westbrook.
The Lakers are reportedly eager to bring the 6-foot-9 player back to the team, and the Wizards nearly traded Kuzma to the Dallas Mavericks during the 2023-24 season, but the player refused.
The 28-year-old has three guaranteed years left on his contract, where he is set to make $23.5 million in the upcoming 2024-25 NBA season.
Lakers' other trade talks
In addition to the Wizards, the Lakers have been involved in trade negotiations involving Jerami Grant with the Portland Trail Blazers, Cameron Johnson and Dorian Finney-Smith with the Brooklyn Nets, and Bruce Brown with the Toronto Raptors.
Irwin also mentioned that the Lakers could potentially be giving up D'Angelo Russell, Rui Hachimura, Jarred Vanderbilt, Gabe Vincent, and Jalen Hood-Schifino in a possible trade scenario.
Kuzma was drafted by the Lakers with the 27th overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft and was part of the Lakers roster that won the 2020 NBA championship in the bubble.
