The Los Angeles Lakers' plans for second-round draft pick Bronny James have been revealed.

The 19-year-old combo guard, who is the firstborn son of Lakers star LeBron James, was selected with the 55th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.

The Lakers are reportedly planning to make NBA history by playing both LeBron and Bronny James on the court at the same time during the first week of the 2024-25 NBA season.

"What I think you will ultimately see is Bronny James in the first week of the season on the court with his father. In a very, I don't want to call it ceremonial, but the eyes of the world will be on that. They'll do that the first week of the season," league insider Adrian Wojnarowski mentioned on ESPN's SportsCenter on Wednesday, July 3.

Bronny James signed a four-year rookie contract with the Lakers worth $7.9 million, making the first active father-son duo in NBA history official.

This milestone was achieved after LeBron signed his own two-year, $104 million max contract, with both deals finalized on July 3.

Bronny James will mostly play in G League

Despite being expected to make an NBA appearance in the first week of the season, Wojnarowski noted that Bronny is expected to spend the majority of his time with the Lakers' G League affiliate, South Bay Lakers.

"There's no expectation Bronny James is going to be in the Lakers' rotation. He'll spend a lot of his time playing with their G League, which shares a practice facility with the Lakers," Woj added.
