The Golden State Warriors are moving quickly to build their 2024-25 season roster.

The Dubs are in serious talks with free-agent shooting guard Buddy Hield, currently regarded as one of the best shooters in the NBA.

A potential deal would involve a sign-and-trade transaction with the Philadelphia 76ers, where Hield last played, and the two teams are in deep discussions on how to work out the deal, according to league insider Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium.

If the deal happens, the Warriors will replace franchise legend Klay Thompson, who left as a free agent for the Dallas Mavericks and is considered one of the greatest three-point shooters of all time, with another elite marksman from deep.

Hield played a league-leading 84 regular-season games in 2023-24 after spending the first half of the season with the Indiana Pacers and then being traded to the Sixers before the trade deadline.

A new Splash Brothers tandem on the horizon

If Hield lands in San Francisco, Warriors star Stephen Curry will continue to have an elite shooter as a backcourt partner.

Hield and Curry are the only players in the league to have made over 1,000 three-pointers in the 2020s decade.

The two also lead the entire association in the number of three-pointers made since the 2016-17 NBA season, with Curry first with 2,154 and Hield second with 1,924.
