The New York Jets held their mandatory minicamp from June 11 to 13 without arguably their most important player.

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers was notably absent from the three-day minicamp, with head coach Robert Saleh confirming on the first day that the 40-year-old was not excused.

It has now been revealed that Rodgers traveled to Egypt during those dates, planning the trip during his recovery from his Achilles injury, according to league insider Connor Hughes of SNY.

The four-time NFL Most Valuable Player has long admired Egyptian culture and scheduled the visit to coincide with what he thought would be after the offseason programs.

"Aaron and I spoke before OTAs started, he's been very good with communication, he's been here the entire time. It's unexcused, but he had an event that was very important to him, which he communicated," Saleh said on June 11.

The Super Bowl XLV MVP attended every day of the team's Phase 1 voluntary workouts in April.

Aaron Rodgers not in trouble for absence

Despite the unexcused absence, Rodgers will not face severe punishment for missing the team's mandatory minicamp.

Although the Jets knew and understood the trip, they noted that the ten-time Pro Bowl selection did not initially inform the team about it.

Rodgers will receive a fine totaling $101,716 for missing the three-day minicamp, but the team is not concerned and does not expect it to impact his comeback season.
