The Los Angeles Chargers let go of veteran receivers Keenan Allen and Mike Williams, but under new head coach Jim Harbaugh, the game plan will still revolve around running.

Josh Palmer sat down in an interview with the team's website, and there, he provided a preview of what fans can expect now that they are entering a new era.

They have new staff as they try to refurbish the team. In addition to a new head coach, they have newly hired offensive coordinator Greg Roman and wide receivers coach Sanjay Lal.

Palmer is impressed with what he is seeing with Lal.

"He's really technique and technically focused," he said.

"He wants to build great receivers and doesn't want any drop off if guys are not in. He wants to be able to put a guy in and know he's going to be right here."

He also sounded off on the run game they are practicing as a focal point of their offense.

"You can't run unless you can throw and you can't throw unless you can run. The run and the pass compliment each other so we know we have to be good in the run game."

Bigger role for Palmer with two teammates gone

Palmer is only 24, but he is already among the longer-tenured players in the franchise.

Allen and Williams used to receive the bulk of the attention and play with the Chargers, but since they left for the Chicago Bears and the New York Jets, respectively, Palmer is regarded as the de facto leader in the WR position.

For now, he sees young men still trying to adjust to the new environment.

"We're taking shape. We have a lot of different personalities and a lot of different guys. Only a couple guys are back from last season so everyone is fairly new and we're all learning each other."
