Kevin Garnett Recalls Dubious Encounter With Pat Riley During Pre-Draft Workout — 'I Felt Violated'

Hall of Fame legend Kevin Garnett shared an interesting story involving him and current Miami Heat team president Pat Riley nearly two decades ago.

The fiery power forward recalled that during a workout before he was drafted back in 1995, he found himself on the wrong end of the "Godfather's" outburst.

"All the sudden, I heard Pat Riley say, 'Aw, come on, what the f- are we doin' in here? Got me waitin' on a high school guy? Come on! Let's start this s**t'," the 2004 NBA Most Valuable Player told former teammate Paul Pierce on his "KG Certified" podcast.

Garnett was drafted straight out of high school as the fifth overall pick in the 1995 NBA Draft by the Minnesota Timberwolves.

"Damn, I swear to God. When he did that s**t, I felt violated. To this day, that s**t still bother me," Garnett added.

Pat Riley's team during Kevin Garnett workout unclear

During Garnett's pre-draft workout, Riley's team was unclear, as he moved from being the head coach of the New York Knicks to becoming the team president and head coach of the Miami Heat in the summer of 1995.

The 1995 NBA Draft was held on June 28, but teams held workouts for prospects well before the event.

Riley passed the Heat's coaching reins to Erik Spoelstra in 2008 but remains president today.
