A boxing journalist recounted a fascinating encounter with Mike Tyson, widely revered as one of the greatest boxers of all time.

Emily Austin, a reporter for DAZN, shared her experience of attempting to interview Tyson during the Ryan Garcia vs. Devin Haney fight last April 20.

Initially, Tyson, sitting next to Oscar Dela Hoya, showed little interest in accepting the interview, preferring to enjoy the action at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Undeterred, Austin attempted to use humor to persuade Tyson when they crossed paths again approximately 30 minutes later. However, the former undisputed heavyweight champion remained uninterested.

After Tyson briefly excused himself to the bathroom, Austin discreetly followed him. Upon his return, she explained that she was a 22-year-old reporter whose career would greatly benefit from the interview. Tyson finally relented, acknowledging her persistence.

After Tyson granted the interview and provided thorough answers, Austin asked for one more favor from the 57-year-old.

She inquired if she could host his fight against social media personality Jake Paul, and Tyson gave her his number and manager's contact information.

The Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul fight has been rescheduled to November 15 from its original July 20 date due to Tyson's ulcer flare-up and the need for more training time.
