If you have come to a point where you have won everything, you can go in battles on your own.

That is how Novak Djokovic puts it when asked why he does not have a coach as the 2024 tennis season goes full swing.

Djokovic is currently participating in the 2024 French Open, where he is in the third round after easily defeating his opponents in the first two rounds.

Reporters caught up with him to finally ask what many people want to know: how he trains without a coach.

"I'm comfortable with these guys for the moment. I don't want to rush my decisions," he told reporters.

"I have quite a bit of experience and know what needs to be done, but I also do need someone who has played tennis and knows tennis. I need eyes on the side of the court beacause I can't see everything I'm doing."

Djokovic is referring to his long-time friend and associate Boris Bosnjakovic.

Djokovic's last coach was Goran Ivanisevic, and their partnership did not end well.

The Serbian great has the most Grand Slams ever, with 23, and is currently aiming for his fourth in the French Open.

Novak Djokovic tempers expectations

Although the name Djokovic could rattle anyone, he is not among the favorites for this year's tourney.

Most sports bookies do not even have him in the Top 10 of best odds to win the Men's Singles title.

Djokovic himself knows that, and this is why he manages his expectations. Still, he promises to go all out against any opponents.

"There is always that kind of conviction and belief inside of me that I can win a slam," he said.

"That's the reason why I'm still competing at this level. That's why I'm here. At this age I wouldn't really be competing at the slams and continuing to play professional tennis if I didn't believe that I possess the quality to go all the way to the title match."
