MLS club Inter Miami could once again be signing one of the best players of this generation.
Argentine midfielder Angel Di Maria is the next in line to join Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba, and Luis Suarez down in Fort Lauderdale.
Inter Miami and Di Maria have reportedly agreed on financial terms, according to ESPN Argentina journalist Leo Paradizo.
The 36-year-old is currently playing for Portuguese side Benfica in his second spell there. He has been a longtime teammate of Messi in the Argentina national team, which won the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Meanwhile, Inter Miami head coach Tata Martino was skeptical of the club's ability to bring in the star midfielder earlier this month.
"The truth is that I have no knowledge, nor do I suspect that economically or legally we are in a position to bring them," the 61-year-old tactician admitted.
Angel Di Maria could play briefly in Argentina
It may not happen anytime soon despite the excitement surrounding Di Maria's potential MLS arrival.
Inter Miami is still awaiting whether he will come as early as this June upon the expiration of his contract with Benfica or during the winter transfer window in January.
Di Maria could possibly play for his hometown club in Argentina, Rosario Central, where he made his professional debut, for six months before he moves to the U.S.
