All-NBA First Team 2024: Players Who Were Snubbed and Those Who Do Not Deserve the Nod

The NBA decided to go positionless in the Defensive Team of the Year, as announced yesterday.

The league stuck with the old format of the All-NBA Team wherein each five will have two guards and three forwards/centers.

The All-NBA First Team of 2024 are the top MVP candidates.

MVP winner Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets headlines the first team. With him are Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks, Jayson Tatum of the Boston Celtics, Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The All-NBA Second Team is composed of Anthony Edwards of the Minnesota Timberwolves, Kawhi Leonard of the Los Angeles Clippers, Kevin Durant of the Phoenix Suns, Anthony Davis of the Los Angeles Lakers, and Jalen Brunson of the New York Knicks.

Meanwhile, Stephen Curry (Golden State Warriors), Devin Booker (Suns), Tyrese Haliburton (Indiana Pacers), LeBron James (Lakers), and Domantas Sabonis (Sacramento Kings) make up the All-NBA Third Team.

All these players were great in their own right.

However, as with any individual awards in any sport, many thought this year's All-NBA Team got some parts wrong.

Who do you think should have made the first team? Who should not have been included?

First team snub

Jaylen Brown - At least Second Team

If they can include two players from a team that barely made it to the playoffs-Suns' KD and Booker-one has to wonder, how come a first-seeded team only has one representative?

Jaylen Brown, who signed a massive deal at the start of the season, proved this season that he is a superstar and belongs with the best.

Tatum is seen as the Celts' main guy, but Brown can slide as the team's no. 1 option each game and deliver.

It is a travesty that the no. 1 team's efforts are being overlooked by votes.

Donovan Mitchell - Third Team At Least

It must be the number of games he missed. Still, this man played on another level this year.

The Cleveland Cavaliers guard went on a scoring spree last season before the team's campaign ended at the hands of the Celtics.

He averaged more points than Jokic and Edwards, and the Cavs placed higher than the teams of KD, Booker, and Haliburton.

Jalen Brunson - Deserves First Team

Sure, the Knicks guard was named to the second team. However, he deserves a higher distinction with how he carried the Knicks amidst all the injuries to the team.

The diminutive point guard transformed the Knicks from a mid-team in the past decade to a scary playoff opponent on his clutch plays.

Who will be omitted from the First Team? It will be hard to pick between Luka and SGA, but if he gets voted to the first team, there is no argument against it.

All NBA Team Overrated

Tyrese Haliburton and Devin Booker

Jaylen Brown could have taken their spot, and there should have been no backlash against it.

Haliburton did well in the first half but was awful since the All-Star Break.

Booker, meanwhile, took a long time before finding his stride. That and injuries to the team are among the reasons they did not finish higher according to expectations.
