New York Rangers veteran center Vincent Trocheck just played a major role as he has helped knock off his old team. And now, he has a chance to beat his other former team.
New York's second round series presented an emotional matchup for Trocheck, who joined the Rangers after not receiving a competitive offer from the Carolina Hurricanes to retain his services after the 2021-2022 season.
The Rangers just knocked Carolina off in six games, with Trocheck coming up with several huge moments, including a Game 2 overtime winning goal.

But Trocheck wasn't a lifelong Carolina Hurricane. He was there for just parts of three seasons, as the Hurricanes acquired him at the 2020 trade deadline from the Florida Panthers.
Coincidentally enough, the Panthers are next on the docket for the Rangers in the Eastern Conference Final.
It's sure to continue an emotional run for the right-handed Pittsburgh native, who was drafted by Florida and spent the first seven years of his NHL career with the Cats.
Trocheck was in Florida for some lean years, as the Panthers appeared in the playoffs just once in that time frame and didn't win a round.
After missing out on the playoffs so much early in his career, Trocheck is now a full-on playoff veteran, having made the postseason all three years in Carolina and now in both of his seasons in New York.
The Panthers, too, are mainstays in the playoffs as the young core Trocheck helped mentor in his final years in Florida has developed, joined by the huge addition of Matthew Tkachuk to develop the group from Sunrise into a legitimate Cup favorite.
It was apparent to anyone who watched that Trocheck played with a chip on his shoulder and a point to prove against Carolina, and you can expect more of the same against a Florida team that moved on from him with a term on his contract just before breaking out as contenders.
