Things in Cleveland just got even more interesting after being eliminated from the playoffs.

With the news surrounding Donovan Mitchell and his contract situation with the Cavaliers reaching a head, reports have now revealed that Cavs point guard Darius Garland could also be traded if Mitchell decides to stay by signing a long-term extension, according to The Athletic.

Last season, Garland averaged 18.0 points and 6.5 assists per game for the Cavaliers. However, his postseason production did not match his regular season stats as he struggled offensively, including an 11 points on 4-17 shooting performance in a must-win game against the Boston Celtics.

Still, despite his lackluster postseason performance, Garland has shown tremendous promise throughout his career. If the Cavs decide to keep Mitchell in Cleveland, teams around the league should be lining up to bring in the All-Star point guard.

Minnesota Timberwolves

The Minnesota Timberwolves could get their Michael Conley upgrade, possibly by trading for Darius Garland.

Minnesota tried to move up in the 2019 draft to acquire Garland, but he ended up going fifth to Cleveland. Now is the Wolves' chance to reclaim the talented guard.

Garland would be a seamless fit for Minnesota next to Karl-Anthony Towns and Anthony Edwards. He possesses a combination of playmaking and scoring that could give the Timberwolves a proper facilitator at point guard.

Darius Garland would be a great solution for the Timberwolves' long-term plans, as Conley will be 37 years old by the end of next season.

San Antonio Spurs

It is no secret that the San Antonio Spurs will look to put talent around their franchise cornerstone, Victor Wembanyama.

Darius Garland would be an ideal fit in San Antonio. He fits the timeline and can provide additional scoring while also bringing in some playmaking, providing a much-needed distributor at point guard that the Spurs needed this past season..

Miami Heat

Donovan Mitchell or Darius Garland should be on their priority list for the Miami Heat.

Depending on how the situation shakes out, the Heat could land either of these star guards.

Garland would be a significant upgrade over Terry Rozier, who missed time last season due to a neck injury.

Darius Garland could help keep Miami's championship window alive while also assisting the Heat in building for the future, adding to a young core of Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo.
