The Bay Area has a new team to cheer for after the launch of the Golden State Valkyries, its own WNBA team.

The nickname selected by the franchise has basketball fans reeling as Valkyries remains attached to their beloved Golden State Warriors based on its meaning.

Another thing that made it an internet hit is its jersey colors, which got the attention of women's college hoops star Paige Bueckers.

"Prettiest colorway ever," she tweeted on X.

Bueckers, 22, plays as a point guard for the University of Connecticut Huskies and will remain there for another season after a successful 2023-2024 season.

She was unanimously named to the first-team All-American for the second time.

In February this year, she confirmed that she would return to the school for her senior year despite chatters that he could go Top 3 in the 2024 NBA Draft.

This is why many Golden State fans are excited about her tweet saying she may have started manifesting playing for the Valkyries.

Chances of Valkyrie and Bueckers teaming up

It is unknown whether the WNBA will award the Valkyries the 2025 draft top pick, but in many instances, an expansion team usually gets an advantage during this process.

What is sure, though, is that Bueckers is a Top 3 pick, with Bleacher Report even declaring that there is a gap in talent between her and many of those expected to declare for the WNBA draft.

Bueckers won the AP Player of the Year, Naismith College Player of the Year, USBWA National Player of the Year, and John R. Wooden Award in the same year in 2021.
