Finally, an answer exists for the question of what the world's richest man could possibly want.
The answer: a Brooklyn Nets T-shirt.
USA TODAY Sports' For The Win reported that legendary singer/musician Paul McCartney attended the Brooklyn Nets-Philadelphia 76ers basketball game on Monday night. The Nets routed the Sixers 130-94 behind Joe Johnson's 37 points - 29 in the third quarter alone - for their fourth win in five games.
But the most intriguing aspect of the game came during a break in the action. During a timeout, the team's in-game entertainment crew went loaded up come T-shirt cannons to fire into the crowd.
McCartney, who has sold more than 100 million albums and 100 million singles during his career with the Beatles and his solo career afterward, was shown asking for a T-shirt to be shot his way. For The Win described it as showing "nearly as much passion as a teenage Beatles fan at Shea Stadium in 1965."
While the Sir McCartney - he was knighted in 1997 - wasn't quite that excited, he was clapping, visibly and repeatedly motioning for the T-shirt. When one came near him, he mouthed, "It's mine," only to see it fall one row below him and to his left.
To the person that grabbed it, McCartney said, "that was mine!" At least the good-natured McCartney didn't make any other type of scene, other than to clap as if to congratulate the "lucky" T-shirt recipient.
There was no indication whether the fan who grabbed the T-shirt offered it to McCartney, which would've been the absolute smartest thing to do. Even the risk of losing a T-shirt of an 8-15 team would've been well worth any payoff from McCartney for the gesture.
