Tonight at 9:00 p.m. ET the Oklahoma City Thunder (19-4), one of the Western Conference's hottest teams, will try to run and gun in the thin air of Denver, where the hometown Nuggets (14-9) will try to increase their impressive home record to 8-3. The game will be featured on NBA TV, and can be live streamed by clicking this link. Thunder fans can tune in to the radio broadcast on WWLS 98.1, while Nuggets fans can hear the game on 93.7 Mile High Sports.
Tonight's matchup will feature two elite point guards, Russell Westbrook of the Thunder and Ty Lawson of Denver. Westbrook is a known commodity offensively, but on defense he's been terrorizing opponents with his two steals a game.
"It just gets us easy baskets," OKC forward Kevin Durant said. "Once you start to hit layups and get dunks, it opens the flood gates a little bit." Their breakneck pace was present vs. the Orlando Magic, but they did take their foot off the gas and let the Magic back in the game. "We were able to get started there, but you have to be able to play 48 minutes," Durant said. "(On Sunday) we had some tough stretches but we just kept fighting."
Denver has played well of late, winning three of their last four games, but head coach Brian Shaw said the Nuggets will need to step up their game to knock off the Thunder. "I told them that if we want any chance winning against Oklahoma City, we're going to have to do a lot better in every area to even have a chance to win that game," Shaw said.
In addition to worrying about Lawson, backup point guard Nate Robinson has been making big plays off the bench, including a two-block performance against the Pelicans on Sunday. "I told the guards to watch out, I'm blocking shots," Robinson joked. "I just really try to take pride in my defense."
While he was kidding about his D, Robinson has been an energizer, giving Denver 14.7 points a night off the bench since late November.
