Amar'e Stoudemire Injury Update: 'Stat' Out Indefintely For New York Knicks With Knee Soreness [VIDEO]

Amar'e Stoudemire is out indefinitely for the New York Knicks after experiencing further soreness in his already surgically repaired knee.

According to Newsday, Stoudemire experienced swelling in his knee following the team's 102-101 loss to the Washington Wizards at Madison Square Garden Monday night. The setback comes at a time when Stoudemire appeared to be finally finding his rhythm, having averaged 16 points a night over a four-game period earlier this month.

"His knee swelled up," coach Mike Woodson told Newsday. "He won't play tomorrow and he could be out a while."

While sidelined, Carmelo Anthony is expected to consume more minutes at power forward and Andrea Bargnani will log more minutes at center for the struggling, 7-17 Knicks. Starting center Tyson Chandler also remains sidelined with a leg injury.

"I don't know," added Woodson when faced with the question of when Stoudemire might return. "I know he won't play tomorrow. Kenyon's (Martin) out as well. Hopefully Tyson feels good after tonight, will be able to get back in a uniform. For us to get out of this hole it's going to take a total team effort, and hopefully we'll eventually get everybody back."

Woodson added Stoudemire was no longer under the minutes restriction placed on him at the start of the season. After missing the last 20 games, Chandler sounded as if he was more than ready to retake the court.

"Feeling good out there," he told Newsday after Tuesday's practice. "Now, I'll sleep on it and talk to coach tomorrow, go from there. We'll see how I feel in the morning. I was pretty confident out there moving around with the guys and banging, really not having any setbacks."
