Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins discussed his future in light of the franchise tagging he received at the end of last season and his subsequent request for a trade.
During his youth football camp in Cincinnati on Sunday, April 14, the 25-year-old spoke to reporters and was asked whether he would suit up for the Bengals in the 2024 NFL season.
"I do anticipate it. I've grown a love for Cincinnati that I didn't think I would. [I'm] looking forward to it," the Clemson Tigers product said.
In late February, the team placed the franchise tag on him, and he publicly requested a trade away from the team in mid-March.
The Bengals have not ruled out re-signing Higgins, but the two sides have not discussed terms for a new deal since last offseason.
The Oak Ridge, Tennessee native is set to play the 2024 season with a salary of $21.816 million under the franchise tag.
Tee Higgins was bothered by injuries last season
Higgins is currently ranked among the top wide receivers in the NFL, but he faced challenges in the 2023 season due to a hamstring injury, resulting in career-low numbers.
He participated in only 12 of 17 regular-season games, recording 656 yards on 42 receptions and five touchdowns.
The hamstring injury initially occurred during a November 2023 practice and was aggravated later in the season.
