Toronto Raptors power forward/center Jontay Porter is currently under investigation by the NBA for possible betting infractions.

If found guilty, Porter could face a lifetime ban from the league, according to NBA Commissioner Adam Silver.

"I have enormous range of discipline available to me. It's cardinal sin what he's accused of in the NBA. The ultimate extreme option I have is to ban him from the game. That's the level of authority I have here because there's nothing more serious," the 61-year-old said during a meeting of the league's Board of Governors on Wednesday, April 10.

The 24-year-old is being probed by the NBA for suspicious bets linked to his games.

During his last games on January 26th against the Los Angeles Clippers and on March 20th against the Sacramento Kings, unusually large sums were placed for him to underachieve (go under expected stats). Jontay Porter exited early in both games, resulting in huge wins for those who bet on the under.

Notably, these bets were among the biggest winners on DraftKings Sportsbook those evenings.

Michael Porter Jr. Defends His Brother Jontay Over Allegations

Meanwhile, Jontay Porter's older brother, Denver Nuggets small forward Michael Porter Jr., has taken his side regarding the issue.

"I have known my brother my whole life. I know what type of dude he is. I know he's excited to play basketball and highly doubt that he would do anything to put that in jeopardy," the NBA champion sharpshooter said after the investigations went public.

Jontay Porter hasn't played since March 23rd due to "personal matters."
