Gunshots were reported to have been fired outside the FedEx Forum in downtown Memphis, Tennessee, while an NBA game between the Grizzlies and Detroit Pistons was taking place inside the building on Friday, April 5.

The Memphis Police Department (MPD) stated that officers responded to the area of 151 Beale Street around 7:14 p.m.

Police also informed reporters that one person was in custody, but it remains unclear whether the individual was apprehended in connection with the shooting or for an unrelated offense.

According to a witness, the suspected shooter was accompanied by two other men. The witness stated that the shooter targeted a man but missed.

The MPD added that there were no reported injuries, and they have taken one person into custody.

Heavy police presence can be observed in the arena, with the Beale Street entrance on South Fourth Street taped off. Additionally, South Fourth Street at Peabody Place has been closed off to traffic, per Action News 5.

One person is reportedly on a stretcher despite police report

Despite the initial police statement indicating no injuries, a woman was observed being loaded onto a stretcher.

A witness at the scene reported that the woman who was seen being placed in an ambulance appeared to be running away and speculated that she may have tripped over.

The Grizzlies won over the Pistons with a final score of 108-90.
