The Kansas City Chiefs have secured a crucial component of their defensive line for the upcoming 2024 NFL season.

The team has finalized a long-term agreement with defensive end Mike Danna, continuing a trend of defensive players staying with the team.

As per NFL Network's league insider Mike Garafolo, the 26-year-old's contract will span three years.

Hailing from Michigan, Danna has been with the Chiefs since 2020. The team drafted him in the fifth round of the 2020 NFL Draft with the 177th overall pick. He has participated in the team's last two Super Bowl campaigns.

Danna is slated to earn $24 million over the next three seasons, as league insider Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported.

Danna has amassed 68 solo tackles, 60 assists, and 17.0 sacks throughout his career. He played college football at Central Michigan University and the University of Michigan.

In the 2023 NFL season, Danna recorded 32 solo tackles, 18 assists, and 6.5 sacks while playing in all 16 regular-season games.

Additionally, in Super Bowl 58 against the San Francisco 49ers last February, he contributed a solo tackle and two assisted tackles.

Danna joins defensive tackles Chris Jones, Derrick Nnadi, and Mike Pennel as defensive linemen who have re-signed with the reigning Super Bowl champions this offseason.
