Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green has weighed in on this year's Defensive Player of the Year race.
While initially not considering him, the 34-year-old believes that San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama deserves the honor in his rookie season.
"I know I said on here a little while back, Wemby shouldn't be the Defensive Player of The Year. I lied. Wemby should be the Defensive Player of The Year because he is that amazing defensively. The way he impacts the game on the defensive end, whether it's off the ball, on the ball, it's a problem," the four-time NBA champion said on a recent episode of his podcast "The Draymond Green Show."

Draymond Green is glad that he won't deal with Wemby in the future
Green and Wembanyama squared off in San Antonio last Sunday, March 31.
"I'm happy I had the opportunity to play against him now because they'll have to deal with him a lot later and I won't be in the league anymore," the four-time All-Star said in the post-game interview.
The Warriors won by a narrow 117-113 margin over the Spurs in a game decided in crunch time.
