The WWE presented its final pay-per-view event of the year Sunday night as TLC: Tables, Ladders and Chairs took place live from the Toyota Center in Houston with the intent to crown a new unified and undisputed world champion, and when the dust settled it was Randy Orton standing tall over John Cena.

In the main event, World Heavyweight Champion John Cena put his title on the line against Orton's WWE Championship in a tables, ladders and chairs match. The ending saw Orton emerge as the unified champion after he pushed Cena off of the ladder and climbed up to grab the belts. After Orton won, Cena looked on from the floor as Triple H, Stephanie McMahon and Vince McMahon came out to congratulate Orton, who held up both title belts.

The show opened with CM Punk taking on The Shield in the first of two 3-on-1 handicap matches. The crack in The Shield's foundation was expanded yet again when Roman Reigns accidentally speared Dean Ambrose and Punk covered for the win. Daniel Bryan didn't fare as well in his 3-on-1 match against The Wyatt Family, and he was eventually pinned after Bray Wyatt beat him down with punches and hit his Sister Abigail finisher for the win.

With the Intercontinental Championship on the line, Big E Langston successfully defended against Damien Sandow after he hit The Big Ending and got the pinfall victory. In divas action, A.J. Lee defended her title against Natalya and won after reversing a sharpshooter attempt into a roll up for a pinfall victory.

Cody Rhodes and Goldust were successful when they put their Tag Team Championships on the line in a four-way tag team match against Jack Swagger and Antonio Cesaro, The Big Show and Rey Mysterio and Ryback and Curtis Axel. Ryback and Axel were first eliminated when Ryback missed a spear and was rolled up by Goldust. The Real Americans were the next ones out after Show knocked out Cesaro in mid-air. Rhodes then last eliminated Mysterio after he hit the Cross Rhodes to retain the titles.

In other action, Kofi Kingston defeated The Miz in a no-disqualification match while R-Truth defeated Brodus Clay via a roll up.

In the pre-show match, Fandango defeated Dolph Ziggler after hitting a top-rope leg drop.

The show was successful in crowning an undisputed champion as Orton walked out with both titles while the inevitable breakup of The Shield was hinted at and the Wyatts picked up a big win over Bryan.
