The Houston Rockets were relieved to learn about the injury update concerning their star center, Alperen Sengun.

Fortunately, he avoided a significant injury to his lower right leg. However, he has been diagnosed with a severe sprained right ankle and a bone bruise on his right knee, per league insider Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Despite the apparent relief, the Rockets will have to proceed without the Turkish big man for the remainder of the season.

"Sources tell me Alperen Sengun has suffered a Grade 3 right ankle sprain, he will miss several weeks... tremendous sigh of relief, but this likely ends his regular season," according to the latest update from Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium.

The 21-year-old will not require surgery to recuperate from the injury. Nevertheless, Sengun's absence will leave Houston with a significant gap to address.

Sengun has emerged as one of the league's breakout stars this season, demonstrating remarkable averages of 21.1 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 5.0 assists throughout 63 games.

Sengun's injury occurred during a tense moment with less than a minute left in their away game against the Sacramento Kings on Sunday, March 10, at the Golden 1 Center.

In an attempt to contest a fastbreak layup by Kings star Domantas Sabonis, the Turkish center landed awkwardly on his right leg, visibly in pain. Initially, the injury looked severe as he had to be wheeled off the court.
