South Carolina Gamecocks center Kamilla Cardoso is set to face an NCAA Tournament setback after being engaged in a brawl against the LSU Tigers during the Southeastern Conference Tournament championship game on Sunday, March 10, at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina.
The 6-foot-7 center will be ineligible for the first round of the 2024 NCAA Tournament, according to basketball insider Adam Zagoria.
The skirmish began when Cardoso stepped in to defend her USC teammates by pushing LSU guard Flau'jae Johnson.
Before this, Johnson had intentionally fouled South Carolina freshman MiLaysia Fulwiley, resulting in a verbal exchange between Johnson and South Carolina forward Ashlyn Watkins.
The Brazilian player eventually apologized for her actions, as South Carolina won the SEC title game, 79-72.
