Scuderia Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc expressed a pessimistic outlook on his team's chances for the upcoming Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, set to take place on Sunday, March 10, at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit.
The Jeddah track, renowned for its high-speed layout within a street track configuration, poses a challenge for the team.
"I don't think this [track characteristic] is our main strength, I felt like it was more the medium-speed [corners] where we were strong," Leclerc admitted during a press conference for the race on Wednesday, March 6.
The brake problem that haunted Leclerc in Bahrain has been fixed
Leclerc appeared to be in a strong position for a good result during the season opener in Bahrain last week, securing the second spot in qualifying just behind Red Bull's Max Verstappen and narrowly missing out on pole position by a mere two-tenths of a second.
However, he faced challenges with uneven brake temperatures from the early laps, ultimately dropping to fourth place by the end of the race.
Despite this setback, Leclerc assured that the team had addressed and resolved the issue ahead of the Saudi race.
"It was just an issue that we've never had before. That was obviously very costly in terms of time, especially in the first half of the race, where it was extremely difficult to drive. But no, I don't expect it to happen again this weekend," Leclerc said.
