Iowa Hawkeyes star guard Caitlin Clark etched her name in history by becoming the all-time leading scorer in NCAA Division I basketball -- men's or women's, surpassing the late LSU Tigers legend and Basketball Hall of Famer, "Pistol Pete" Maravich.

The 22-year-old achieved the feat in her final regular season game at home against the Ohio State Buckeyes, held on Sunday, March 3 at the Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City.

Heading into the game, Clark required 18 points to reach this landmark, and she successfully achieved it through two free throws with 0.3 seconds remaining in the first half. She ended the game with 35 points as the Hawkeyes took the win over the Buckeyes, 93-83.

Clark's point total now stands at 3,685, surpassing the previous record held by Maravich at 3,667 points with the Tigers from 1967 to 1970.

Just two weeks prior, Clark had already made headlines by breaking Kelsey Plum's all-time scoring record for NCAA Division I women's basketball with a 49-point outburst against the Michigan Wolverines.

Clark is set to enter the 2024 WNBA Draft after the current collegiate basketball season, where she is expected to be taken with the first overall pick by the Indiana Fever.
